Premium Member John Sprung Posted January 7, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted January 7, 2008 It's therefore ok to add a very very small amount early on. However, as you point out, it's best to add what you need at the end, if needed. The issue with any sharpening added early on is concatenation. In the final pass, which should happen along with color timing/grading, how's the poor software to know what's real and what's the first pass's attempt at sharpening? Record and online without sharpening. If you need to show sharpened dailies to the suits, do it the way Mike Most invented for color timing: make a sharpened and color timed viewing pass from the pristine original. -- J.S.
