Hot Gears System

We are going to be using the Hot Gears System and a Red Camera with 17-80 Optimo. I have talked to several people with mixed responses as to whether an Arri MKI or MKII would be better. I know I would prefer the MKII for it's smaller size but will it be stable enough to handle all the weight/movement/ etc, especially when the camera is underslung? Any personal experiences or opinions would be appreciated.

I have already met with them (them being Mehran Salamanti the creator and his crew). He said the MKII would be fine however, I have also talked to a New York owner who recommended the MKI over the II for stability reasons. Hence why I was curious if others out there had opinions.
