Contracts and Cancelled Shoots

Recommended Posts

I read a little bit about this in other threads, but I'm wondering what, if there is one, is the standard on cancelled or pushed shoots? What do people generally include in their DP contracts about how much compensation will be given if a shoot is pushed back or cancelled all together. I've been hosed a few times because I had nothing in my deal memo and would love some info. Thanks all.

I've never heard of anything to protect a DP if a shoot is put on hold, something similar to SAG contracts would be nice (for example, if an actor works the first day of a shoot and then isn't needed again until the last day, they get paid for the entire shoot, but that's an extreme example), but a DP is still a below the line crew member who's paid per diem in most situations, I believe.
