Miguel Bunster
I only have seen the 35mm version of Blade Runner which is 2.39 but its mentioned on IMDB that the 70mm version is 2.20 I am curious about how much different it is in extra frame change etc. Any thoughts? Ps: beside de super 70mm quality etc...
Premium Member Max Jacoby Posted April 25, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted April 25, 2008 The film was shot 35mm anamorphic, not 65mm (except for the miniatures), so the original aspect ratio is 2.39. For the 70mm prints the sides got cut of slightly.
John Holland
Any 35mm Anamorphic 2.40 film blown up to 70mm then loose a bit of the sides and shown in the 2.20 format as a film shot on 65mm ie Todd-AO , Super Panavision 70 . You arnt missing anything really on that small cut off.
Ayz Waraich
You arnt missing anything really on that small cut off. Personally, even the slightest overscan on an LCD TV bothers the hell out of me, because the composition feels off -- so I don't know.
