Super35 to anamorphic

J Costantini

Recommended Posts

Hi. I´ve posted a few questions about the subject in the past.

Now I would like to ask more specifically about the super35 to anamorphic process, using optical ´anamorphization´.

What are the recommendations, and, although I know it really depends on the look we´re going for, would you recommend any specific lenses to shoot with (if I intend to go through this process)? Someone recommended the cookes S4.

If I´m using 5219 (vision3). would pushing 1 stop increase grain at final positive a lot?

thanks,

j

Just use common sense -- it is a blow-up process, so you want to make the image as sharp and fine-grained as possible to counteract the effects of the enlargement and duping. Unless you want a softer and grainier look.

There is nothing particularly better about the Cooke S4's in terms of a blow-up compared to any other decent optics.

So pushing a 500T stock is not advised unless you are going for a grainier look, though it is only a mild increase over the basic graininess of 500T processed normally.
