Hello Meg,

I will try to answer your questions. I've decided to post on forum so others

can learn also. POV- Camera position is definitely something a pro must con-

sider. In motion and still photography it has application. Photographs tend to

portray something about the subject, character, certain style. There really is

more involved,in making a portrait than just lighting. Some people just say put

the camera over there. At times you have probably become confused on the set

about position of camera, specially if you see it being set up. Eye level, shoulder

level, lens level are some terms you might here in still photography. Actually the

angle of the subject, actor's face should determine camera position. Now keep in

mind that right now we're talking about people. "The Camera Position Is An Angle

Of The Face". Positions are- 1.Full Face,2.Two Thirds Of Face3.Profile. These angles

become effective with the expression on the character's face. I personally like a

full face portrait, image where the subject, actor appears as if face is coming dire-

ctly toward the lens. Everywhere you look you will see photos where subject, actor

are portrayed with two thirds look. Why? Its a flattering angle of the face. The use

of a profile angle is as old as photography itself. Here you see exactly one half of

the face.Basically this shot is used to strongly display character. Hope this helps you. As its 2:00AM here on east coast, I will post zone calibration tomorrow, under

film stocks heading. Best regards! Greg
