M42 lens on K3 - aperture problem

Forgive my ignorance; Will the K3 override the auto exposure pin on the old m42 lenses? Do I need to hold the plunger button while depressing the shutter release?

 

I know I'm missing something otherwise these lenses remain wide open when mounted on the K3.
