Dan Durbin
Battery life on the Marantz PMD660 Recorder is short when you use a +48V phantom powered microphone (i.e. Sennheiser MKH416). Do others have this problem? I have thought about powering it with an IDX E-7S rechargeable battery pack (14.8V, 4.8Ah), but have been unable to find a converter from 14.8V to the 5V power input on the PMD660. Any thoughts? Andre Boisvert
A switching regulator will do the trick; http://www.dimensionengineering.com/DE-SW050.htm It'll bring anything up to 30V down to 5V. I have the 3.3V version to power my Edirol R-09 off my 12V bag supply. 3 months so far, no problems.
