The Hunt for Red October Lenses?

This movie was released back in 1990 when AC magazine was not as well edited -- they made some strange choices, like in this case: they only had an article on the post sound for "Red October".

 

Anyway, the movie was shot on Panavision anamorphic lenses, most likely C-series for all the Steadicam work, which is a lot of the movie. I also read elsewhere that Jan DeBont used the Panaflasher on the movie to lower contrast (McTiernan liked that look) and you can tell some sort of Fog-type filters are being used in the Red October submarine scenes (maybe a 1/4 Fog or Low-Con).

 

I may have read an article in the now-defunct Film & Video magazine about the movie, or something even more obscure, like Lighting Dimensions.

 

As for film stock, the movie was shot in 1989, the year that Kodak replaced 5294 & 5295 (both 400T but '95 was the finer-grained "bluescreen" stock that some people used for whole features) with EXR 500T 5296, so it could have used any of those three... but my guess would be '96.
