Jonathan Spear
My all time favorite film. My question is: Are those 'space shots' (IMAX looking shots) of planet Earth and 'Phloston Paradise' computer generated or are they 'borrowed' from NASA and/or other satellite pictures?? I've noticed these shots in many other films as well. Thanks! here's the pic: http://www.sciflicks.com/the_fifth_element...element_10.html -Jonathan S. (I'm a newbie. Nice to meet you all. Guest fstop
CG matte art from Digital Domain. There's a cinefex that covers this.
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted November 25, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted November 25, 2004 Nowadays they scan NASA photos and retouch them digitally.
Guest fstop
I'm pretty sure the Fifth Elements were all done from scratch. Using NASA photography isn't anything new though- Both Superman The Movie and Superman IV used hassleblad images taken by NASA for their space photography (mixed in with other elements optically).
