My first 2 student films

These are my two first films I made for school. Both films are shot with a mini-DV camcorder.

 

The first assignment was to show "an object" with :

-no moving camera, zooming or focus-pulling

-45 seconds

-no sound

-10 to 15 shots

The second assignment was to show "an action" with the same rules as the first assignment

The teachers were quite happy with the first film, but the second was not that good in their opinion. (and I agree)

Hey Thomas,

 

the first one is good, I like the framing of some of these shots.

 

I don't know the intention of your teachers but I can imagine that they wanted to see how much your images are able to express without any movement or music because these two elements influence a lot the emotional effect that images create and they make them look stronger than they really are.

 

As a suggestion you could try to change the depth of field in some shots (if your camera allows you to change it).
