Chad Mayer
I've got an Arri 35BL2 with a Jurgens video tap. I'd like to know what low cost camcorders (can be just miniDV) out there will record from a line video input. Why not just use a deck? I'd like to use it as a camera on the side. Also ideally I'd like to be able to use the camera's LCD as the monitor. One of the newer solid state models would be preferred but let me know what you think. Thanks! -Chad
Jason Hinkle RIP
There's so many cameras with AV in that you probably can set more criteria like the price, size, HD, etc. Google search for "Camcorder with AV in" turns up quite a lot of recommendations. Chad Mayer
I didn't have too much luck finding new cheap camcorders with an analog composite video in, but if I step it up a bit to prosumer/DVX level there seems to be a lot more, dare I say , a plethora. (Plus Ill be able to record some scratch audio to boot!) I think a DVX100 is in the mix. Why hasn't their price dropped much since the HMC150 release? Also, to the DVX owners out there, can it record from (and be LCD displaying) a composite (RCA) video input with the XLR audio in? So, basically treating it like a recording deck some of the time. Any help is appreciated.
