3 minutes at 4:1 is only 12 minutes. Red is highly compressed, it gets 8 minutes on each 16 Gig CF card. So, theoretically, you'd be fine with just two CF's. But unless you've worked with these folks before, I'd be skeptical of the 4:1 ratio. Bring along four CF's and you'd be good for a 10:1 ratio.

We transfer to 500 Gig shuttle drives, as that size is enough for a full day's work. If you're going to own and re-use the drives, that's a good size to have.

The planned drive to transfer to is 300Gb. If we keep to our planned shooting ratio we should be fine and still have some space to breath, just in case the day becomes a bit more frenetic and more mistakes occur.

Many thanks John! ;)

We have a big RAID array attached to the on-location transfer computer, and keep a copy of everything on it. At the end of the day, we transfer the day's work to two RAM shuttle drives.

For your job, I'd recommend keeping a copy on the internal drive of the transfer computer in addition to the 300 Gig shuttle drive. If you have any other storage available, making another redundant copy is very cheap insurance.
