Pali Rao
Hi I just saw Blue Velvet again for the first time in ages, and loved the lighting in the apartment scene and am trying to figure it out - (esp the lighting on Jeffrey when he forced to remove his clothes after being discovered hiding in the cupboard, and Frank when he's drinking in the same scene) I know that the cinematographer, Fred Elmes, lit sets for these scenes on a set. I can see where the some sources must have been places (by shadows on faces/floor). Judging by the shadows, there are some hard sources involved, but beyond that Im a bit stuck. Somehow, the feeling seems to bit soft but directional, very painterly, almost like soft evening light. Does anyone here have any insights/light diagrams that they would be kind enough to share? Hampus Bystrom
Yeah I'd be really interested of that aswell, actually anything on Blue Velvet. I don't think there's any AC articles on Blue Velvet, but I might be wrong.
