Guest marc
Hello, I am fairly new to shooting timelapse at night, any suggestions on how long to keep the shutter open, Interval time, F-stop etc. to obtain smooth moving star trails. I will be using 5218 (500ASA) in a pretty remote area, with no artificial light and a half moon. Any help or info on the topic is very much appreciated. Thanks marc
Guest dpforum1968
Shooting stars there is no risk of over exposure even with 500 ASA film, so you can leave the shutter open a long time. You will need each frame to be exposed for a minimum of 10 seconds to get any thing effective. Stars are very dim. Open the lens as wide as it will go. The risk of over exposure here is zero. I've done this shot a dozen times or more. DC
