Flash effect

Hi

 

In some weeks i am going to shot a music video. In the video we have a scene in an fashion show. The image we want to create look like this

 

In The dark area we want to have photographic flashes. And now to my questions.

 

What is the best way to create this, does it work With a real photographic flash or do you need to fake it with some other type of light ?. I also wonder What’s the best way to create the effect that you can see in file 1

 

The camera we are you is hvx200 with mini35 and ziess High speed 1.3 lenses.

I would give those extras cameras with flashes and do it that way. I see no reason to complicate things.

That photo also looks like it has some sort of "star" filter on it to give the light sources the 8 point legs.
