Premium Member Keith Walters Posted July 18, 2009 Premium Member Share Posted July 18, 2009 (edited) Interesting article from Filmjournal International: Deluxe: In Living Color EFILM, Panavision and Deluxe are now all part of the same corporate umbrella. Note their commitment to 4K DIs: "I think everything is going to end up going 4K," Matza predicts, adding that EFILM has already completed more than 25 4K DIs. This year, that included Sony's "Angels & Demons" and Fox's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." which tends to contradict what certain people have been saying here. Premium Member Paul Bruening Posted July 18, 2009 Premium Member Share Posted July 18, 2009 Good to hear. I've never had a great deal of respect for 2K. In opinion only, of course, 4K looks like about the minimum to even begin capturing any of the lovely qualities of film. Since some of the scanners can go to 6K and drives are bigger and cheaper than a couple years ago, I say go 6K.
Scott Fritzshall
Hmm, I wonder if the effects on those shows were done at 4k as well, or if they were 2k and upsampled for the DI. As far as I know, very few people have started doing effects at 4k.
