andy robinson
Here is my demo reel from my time at Columbus College of Art and Design. This is just a rough edit as I am still figuring out what should go in and what should stay out. I would appreciate feedback on this and I don't mind harsh comments that's what helps to improve. http://vimeo.com/7070598 Thanks for the help. Mike Donis
Very short and sweet, which is always good for demo reels. I like a lot of the imagery, but not knowing what else you've got, it's hard to say what else you should add :) I guess being more specific, shots I'm not as much a fan of: first shot of the reel at 0:11, tracking shot @ 0:19, CU @ 0:37, MS @ 0:57. Also, you title cards are off centre :P Shots I love: WS @ 0:16, XCU @ 0:29 My absolute favourite shot is the one with the hot wheels @ 0:35 - love it! Hope I've been of some help. Cheers, Mike
Michael Reed
I actually completely agree with what Mike said...if you'd like a second opinion. I was even going to mention the title cards. And yes, the Hotwheels shot is awesome. Just curious--how many takes did that take to get right? Nice reel...short and sweet.
andy robinson
Yeah as of right now this is a rough cut where I'm trying to find shots to put in and which videos I should use. I still have 3 or 4 more hd films that I've done that I'm trying to find placement for. I'm also going through some non-hd footage that I could use to show that I have done a variety of styles. As of right now most projects that are in the reel are narrative shorts so I'm continuing to edit in documentary work as well as live shows and music videos that I've worked on. The hot wheels shot actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I did maybe 4 or 5 takes with it. The only thing that was frustrating was that the cars never stayed going straight, they always veered left so I ended up using the straightest one. Yeah the title cards were last minute for now but I'm putting together a sort of subtle animated title card for it that I haven't finished yet. But like I said for now its just a rough cut.
