Vegas at night 500T

Hi Skratch,

I live in Las Vegas. I would say for most of your shots you will be fine. The lights on different casinos can vary quite a bit. The famous "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign at the south end of the strip is very bright, while the lights of the Mandaly Bay Casino and Belligio are quite dim.

Downtown is very bright. You will have no problem.

It wouldn't hurt to try to get your hands on a wide angle prime such as an 8mm or less if you are doing driving shots down the strip.

Shooting at 45 fps with a 2.2 you may have some problems with the low lit casinos. An Optar Illumina 1.3 8mm lens would be a real plus.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. :)

I'm going to be doing some night shots on the Vegas strip with 7218 16mm in 2 weeks. I have shot a lot of 500T in S-8 with a 1.4 lense. my 16mm is max 2.2.. will it be enough or should I find a faster lense? some moving shots may be 32-45 fps.

Skratch,

There is no place I know of to rent any decent film lenses in Las Vegas. I'm getting a set of Optar Illumina's, but I probably won't have them until Feb. and they will be bayonet mounts. The best place to rent film lenses is LA. :(

Thanks, I too lived down there for over 10 years. but didn't shoot film then. I would love to use a 1.3 wide angle.. but it doesn't seem the Optar is C-mount, unfortunalty I'm shooting reg 16. Do you know of any good places to rent lenses from in Vegas?
