TV sync, Arri ECU-1?

Need to sync an SR3 Advanced to a regular old CRT TV. Arri makes an ESU-1, will that work? If so how do I use it? I found a manual online but it doesn't explain its operation well. Any other ideas aside from the ECU-1? Thanks!

Should be able to do it with a simple shutter adjustment, 144º is the magic number :)

The 144º trick is fine if the TV isn't particularly prominent in the shot. It doesn't eliminate the roll bar, it just reduces the size of the roll bar to -- in theory -- zero lines. There's still a horizontal offset. If you're doing a CU of the TV set, that probably won't be good enough.
