I am doing a project shooting on the HVX and would like to experiment with using filters.

 

What are some good filters to use for the HVX in particular? I'll be shooting both indoors and outdoors.

Try the Cokin filters. They're cheap and very good optical quality.

Not specific to the HVX, but for exteriors a Polarizer and ND Grad filters are very useful and can add a lot of production value to a shot.

 

You could also experiment with different diffusion filters to soften the digital edginess of the camera. Just don't go overboard with it because the HVX is not a sharp camera to begin with. I would try something like a 1/8 Black Promist, Glimmerglass 1, or Smoke 1 filter to give a little halo (halation) to the highlights and lower the contrast a little.
