Michael Berwick
Hi, On an upcoming short film project we are looking to gain a similar look to that of 'Stand By Me' photographed by Thomas Del Ruth. I have looked into his work and the only information I can find is from modern works. Does anybody know the film stock or process that was used to get the look/style of this film and if so, if it is still available? Thanks, Michael Berwick
K Borowski
The film stock used is a very minimal part of the look. Lighting and filtration are what contribute the most to the look of finished-on-film movies. I suggest you drop the (pardon the expression) quest for a holy grail of a magic film speed and push/pull combination and dig up maybe an ASC article on how the movie was photographed.
