Marc Roessler
Hi, I'd like to grip a 8 kg kamera inside a streetcar. The streetcar has lots of steel bars about 40 mm in diameter, for passengers getting a grip. Obviously, the camera will be most stable when gripped to several bars at a distance due to the minimized lever effect. Fast rigging is a big plus. What equipment would you suggest, starting from the 3/8 screw to attach to the base of the camera. Thanks, Marc Edited April 8, 2010 by Marc Roessler
Jim Hyslop
If the streetcar will be moving, you'll need some kind of shock absorbing system. Streetcars (at least the ones in Toronto) are not very smooth rides, and ya can't let some air out of the tires for a smoother ride :-D -- Jim

If it were me doing it, I would plan on hiring a steadicam operator for the day. The grips can easily rig baby pins wherever you want the camera and the arm can go on it. Jon Rosenbloom
Camera on sticks, with a Chapman vibration isolator; a lot cheaper than a steadi-cam. Edited April 16, 2010 by Jon Rosenbloom

Joshua EarlesBennett
5/8ths rigging kit should do the job for a 8kg camera, but if speed is the key, then sticks is best, or a bungie cam system, that way you can actually do some moves and the bungie system could absorb some of the bounce.
