get started in New York

hi as it is my first post i introduce myself.

 

I am a current student at NYFA Cinematography program before that i worked 4 years in TV as camera operator and had an professional training in photography.

Also i had my first short screened in Cannes this year

 

In 2 months from now i graduate and I would like to get some advice from NY professionals.

 

As a non US citizen i need to decide if i want to stay here or if i rather go back to my Home country Austria.

Beside all the paperwork it is simply a question if I can get jobs here that would satisfy my need to gain more practical training,

get contacts to industry professionals and earn some good money.

 

Of course the plan is to be a DP but unless i get lucky with a couple of Indy features i know i need to do some ground work.

 

I am experienced on big and small sets and always get very good feedback and recommendations from my work.

Beside being the DP I prefer gaffing and the light/electric Department.

 

I hope you can give me some advice or tips i can use to advance my career.
