BILLY PAUL
Hello, I am having Les Bocher in Wales convert my bolex el to super 16. This is a good idea, right? Also, was thinking of having Les adobt the camera for other lenses although I have a Switer POE 16-100, and two primes: a 25mm and a 50 mm both Switer. Should I send all that cash or just rent? Rik Andino
Should I send all that cash or just rent? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't understand that question... Otherwise-->YES it's always a good thing to upgrade your equipment UPGRADING IS GOOD! You'll be able to do alot more with a S16 Bolex than with a R16 Bolex. You can shoot Music Videos for Broadcast (Yes I know you can do that for R16, but S16 is better and more resolution.) Anyways about lenses you might need to get S16 lenses I'd recommend you test out your lenses to see if they cover the S16 frame If you're looking for a good zoom lenses that covers S16 I recommend you find and old & dandy Canon TV lens. They're in C-mounts (they'll fit your Bolex) and pretty good And they're cheap usually under $50 bucks--USD Anyways good luck
Rachel Oliver
Hi; I had a Les S16 over haul done to my RX-5, he also exchanged the turret mount for a Bolex Bayonet hard front. When I first tested the camera I noticed a tiny little scratch occuring within the new S16 frame area, I sent it back to Les and he sorted the problem immedeately (I get the feeling that dosent happen very often to Les ;) ) As for lenses I routinely use all my regular 2nd generation Switar primes (10mm, 26mm, 50mm and also my POE zoom.) They all cover S16 (10mm has very slight corner darkening which for telecine is fine) All in all I'd say it's a brilliant system for budget S16 film work. The lenses are cheap but still very decent. I also got his matte-box and bars, Les is a super nice chatty guy who worked on many of the classic 007 films! Just ask him about it and sit back.... andrewbuchanan
Yeah, "big-ups" to Les Bosher, he did the S16 coversion on my Eclair added custom rods and a PL mount. Everything was beautifully machined, tight, and fit the aesthetics of the factory design. Top notch work.
