Opinion about indisystem

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone;

Does someone know how the equipment offered at indisystem works? I'm working in Uruguay teaching kind of an introduction to filmmaking. As we are not a film shchool, our budget for equipment is not very high. Besides, we have a 5D Mark II with a 100 mm 2.8 macro; a 70-200 mm 2.8 and a 24-70 mm 2.8. We also do have a basic range of lights (from arri 150 to 1k, plus a couple os kinoflos), chimera, flags...

What we mainly do is basic exercises on filmmaking ending with low budget short films. Everything is focused on learning, so we would like to add some tools but we don't have much money. It seems to me that what is offered at indisystem.com could work pretty well for this, but I'd very much appreciate some other opinions.

Thanks a lot.

If budget doesn't permit, indisystem may do fine. They're not particularly built well, and not very durable, so in students hands they may not last long. Perhaps teaching them to respect the equipment is a good base to start with, then let them use the tools. But yeah, should be fine :)

It depends, I've heard decent things about their Pro slider. What sort of equipment are you looking for? There may be better cost effective solutions.

Hey; thanks for the quick answers!

Jonathan, actually that should be our biggest concern: if it would last long enough on students hands. Nowadays, I can say that our students are quite respectful with the equipment, but if these tools are really weak, that could become a problem. Salil, what we think would be interesting to have would be rails and a follow focus. But I also had a look to the slider pro. You can rent stuff like this in Uruguay, but that's too expensive for us.

Thank you!

I disagree. The Indisystem Rigs are made of carbon fiber and very strong. We use them in the StudentFilmmakers Magazine workshops and you can jump up and down on them and they work fine. Excellent low cost rig. Please. Stop by my studio and Broadway and 25th street anytime and i will show you the trust of the matter. Here are some photos if you want to see a workshop with the Indisystem Photos http://www.studentfilmmakers.com/workshops/gallery/HDSLR-Filmmaking-Workshop-NYC-02-2011/index.shtml
