Landon D. Parks
Is it against the law for me to make a movie about someones life without there permission? I.E: I seen a program on disovery channel where a family moved in to an old funeral home and it was haunted by a deamon. Could I make a movie after this experiance and say it was based on a true story without getting the permission of the people it happend to? Of course name and stuff would be changed, and the order of events and even the story in some parts would be restructured. I understand that you could always hide behind the "This story is fictional, any simililarity's to real events is purely by accedent" or whatever, but I want to be able to say "Based on a true story". Rob Belics
I used to know the answer to that but I forgot. This question should be in a writers forum somewhere, no?
Landon D. Parks
Well, yes it should. But I figured one you guys may know as well. I hate to sign up for a lot of differeny forums, it just gets confusing and all. I have seen more off-topic posts than this. Although maybee I should have posted it in the "Off Topic" area?
