Really need some advice??

I am running Sony Vegas pro 11 and I shoot on a canon 7D at 24p 1080p.

Whenever I import video onto the timeline it plays fine until I start adjusting colour curves, HSL, etc.

Then playback becomes incredibly choppy and laggy, literally unworkable, even if I recode with cineform beforehand.

I put it down to computer power. I currently have a AMD 2.8ghz dual, 4gb ddr2, and a geforce 7950gx2.

I know I need to upgrade but I'm not sure quite HOW much power I need. Would something like this do the trick?

What do you use? What do schools use? Any advice would be great.
