Travel Diffusion for Outdoor Interviews

Question, a company I am working with is traveling to Italy for a 3 week shoot, there will be a series of interviews, outdoors mainly, and we will have a need for a overhead diffuser to knock the sun down, maybe one and a quarter (1,1/4) or at least (3/4th) of a stop. I am looking for recommendations from others who have done this. With all of the brands out there, Matthews, Wescott, and so on, I am finding it difficult to pick the right one. Shooting standard one person interviews, with a high likely-hood of direct mid-day sunlight blasting down from over head, no C-stands but hopefully a tall Italian translator holding it could do the trick. Can anyone make a sound recommendation? 4'x4' 2'x3', etc.

 

The real difficulty is in that Italy is a tough place to haul around large sized equipment with our shoot schedule and method of transportation, we are booking it though almost the entire country in 3 weeks and if you have seen the cars there, then you will know why everything should be small. Additionally, we will be mailing the larger items (tripods, etc.) but want to avoid C-stands, so a hand held diffuser or boom operated one is going to be best, not to mention, it should be ultra portable in case we plan to make a hike to that ideal spot.
