Marco Leavitt
Curious to know people's thoughts -- groundless speculation? -- about how the recent developments in digital video will affect telecine options. Currently, even a 2K scan is way out of my price range, even if I had the equipment to edit it. Now we have the HDV standard, and JVC's recently announced ProHD, which looks like it will solve a lot of the motion artifact problems that are said to afflict Sony's offering. It will also support 24P! So, question is, do people think ProHD will become a new affordable option for 16mm telecine for small timers like myself who currently can only afford an NTSC transfer to miniDV? The JVC camcorder will apparently come in at $10,000, and I think I'd rather spend that on film stock.
