Premium Member David Cox Posted March 24, 2005 Premium Member Posted March 24, 2005 Hi All, We have some clients shooting in HDV. Question: how do we get either serial digital HD or SD from this camera? I note that the HDV VTR deck only has I-Link and analogue component outputs. Miranda make a converter from I-Link to SDI, but thats around $3000 (SD only) when the deck itself is only $2000! Any ideas other than firewiring all the rushes into a NLE and then back out again? Thanks David Cox

Premium Member David Cox Posted March 26, 2005 Author Premium Member Posted March 26, 2005 Less noise and less chance of errors caused by out-of-balance analogue levels. Also, the I-Link has the VTR control - there isn't a seperate RS422 control port on the VTR, so interfacing within a post production facility is a little awkward with just i-link. Miranda make an I-link to SDI and VTR control converter, but as I mentioned its more than the VTR (and clients will expect it to be free!)
