Hi All,

We have some clients shooting in HDV. Question: how do we get either serial digital HD or SD from this camera? I note that the HDV VTR deck only has I-Link and analogue component outputs. Miranda make a converter from I-Link to SDI, but thats around $3000 (SD only) when the deck itself is only $2000!

Any ideas other than firewiring all the rushes into a NLE and then back out again?

Thanks

You can use an AJA HD10A, this will convert analog component to HDSDI.

I would rather it stay digital, rather than go via an analogue path...?

Less noise and less chance of errors caused by out-of-balance analogue levels. Also, the I-Link has the VTR control - there isn't a seperate RS422 control port on the VTR, so interfacing within a post production facility is a little awkward with just i-link. Miranda make an I-link to SDI and VTR control converter, but as I mentioned its more than the VTR (and clients will expect it to be free!)
