Premium Member Paul Bruening Posted March 27, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted March 27, 2005 Hello friendly helpers, Does anyone know the candle power specs on dichroic PARs? I'm shooting on an old Mitchell BNC 2 perf. HMIs are way beyond the budget. I want to use FGM 1K dichroic PARs but I don't know how much light loss incurs in the dichroic coatings. I've read 2 stops loss, but that seems like alot. That much loss would cut the unit's effective wattage in candle power down from 1K to 250 watts. Is this right? I don't need them for exteriors since I can use reflectors. However, I do need them in big window, daylight interiors. At 250 watt light value, I'd need a mountain of them to do the job. Any help? Thanks, Paul Bruening
Premium Member Paul Bruening Posted March 31, 2005 Author Premium Member Share Posted March 31, 2005 Answer, I got specs from Mole Richardson. The drop is only a half stop. Candle power of NSP PAR64 3200K at 15 feet is 400. CP of NSP PAR64 5200K at 15 ft. is 300. I answered my own post. Aren't I so, so clever?
