ECN-1

Please tell about ECN1 processing steps

I think you may either be referring to ECN-2, which is the modern process for color negative film, or VNF-1 which is the process for Ektachrome reversal films.

ECN-2 is the normal process, you're supposed to run your Vision color neg through ECN-2. If you run color negative film through VNF-1, you'll have an immediate problem because the film has a rem-jet backing that needs to be removed before development.

Dear friends,

Please tell about ECN1 processing steps and what will be the effect when we process the latest vision 2 stocks in this processing methods is it recommended.

The old ECN process was discontinued almost 30 years ago! The recommended processing temperature was only 70F (21C) since films of that era were not forehardened. The developer time was 12 minutes (ECN-2 is only 3 minutes), and the total "wet" process time was about 45 minutes.

Yes, you can run a modern color negative film though this process and get an image. But the contrasts and speeds will be unpredictable, as these modern films are not designed for this old process.

Here are the Kodak processing specifications for today's processes:

Thank you selinsky,

What Iam actually looking for is I have heard about the ECN1 process like it is a cold process and we have to develop it for 7-9 minutes but I have not worked with it . I not even know about the formula and the processing steps. Since the ECN2 is a hot process we have to develop the film for 41 degree celsius. so what will be the negative when we process a vision stock in ECN1.

The original ECN and ECP processes and films are discussed in the Kodak technical paper "Color Negative and Color Positive Film for Motion Picture Use" by Wesley T. Hanson Jr., published in the Journal of the SMPTE, March 1952, Volume 58, pages 223-238.
