How to light subject still keeping room dark

I would like to film a scene for my music video where it will have the subject in a dark room with lasers behind him while keeping the room dark. How would you or what could you use for lighting that will allow me to do so? Please keep in mind that the light could reflect off the fog I will use in this scene as well.. Thank you!

Use a black box sound stage (or something that is a pure black backdrop) and shoot 3+ stops above your target exposure of your subject should do it. Also flag off light that may spill onto the background and have some distance between your subject and the backdrop.
