Cinematographers To Discuss Art and Technology

The American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) is hosting two panels titled The Art of Cinematography and The Rise of Hybrid Cinematography during the Beverly Hills Films Festival at the Clarity Theatre in the courtyard on April 16. The Festival will run from April 13 through April 17.

 

An extraordinary cast of cinematographers including Russ Alsobrook, ASC, James Chressanthis, ASC, Curtis Clark, ASC, Bill Fraker, ASC, BSC, Laszlo Kovacs, ASC, Philippe Rousselot, ASC, AFC, John Toll, ASC, Roy Wagner, ASC and editor Harry Miller, A.C.E. will participate on The Art of Cinematography panel from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The discussion will focus on the evolving art of storytelling on mega-budget films, independent movies and telefilms. They will also discuss and answer questions about the past, present and future of their art form.

 

The second panel from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. will explore how concurrent advances in film production and digital intermediate postproduction technologies are adding a new dimension to the art and craft of visual storytelling. Cinematographers Allen Daviau, ASC, Daryn Okada, ASC, Nancy Schreiber, ASC and Kees Van Oostrum, ASC accompanied by digital colorists Mike Sowa of LaserPacific, Stefan Sonnenfeld of Company 3 and Jill Bogdanowicz of Technicolor Digital Intermediates will discuss and answer questions about the relatively new collaborative relationship and the influence it will have on the future of filmmaking.
