Prominent industry filmmakers will focus

on how the convergence of film origination and digital postproduction affect

the workflow during a seminar on May 21 at Tribeca Cinemas from 8:30 a.m.

to 12:30 p.m. Producer Brian Bell and cinematographers Nancy Schreiber, ASC

and Matthew Libatique, ASC will participate in the discussion moderated by

Carolyn Giardina, senior editor of SHOOT Magazine. Kodak is hosting the

seminar.

"There are powerful, new creative tools that enable filmmakers to

accurately and efficiently ensure the artistic integrity of the looks they

create from preproduction through postproduction," says Ann Turner, vice

president and general manager, Americas region, Kodak's Entertainment Imaging

Division. "The purpose of this dialogue is to explore this important issue

from the perspective of filmmakers."

Such new tools include the Kodak Look Manager and Kodak Display Manager

systems, which are designed to help filmmakers maintain control and

communicate their intentions with editors, digital timers and other

collaborators on a project. LaserPacific President Leon Silverman will offer

insights into issues related to color management and how the evolution of

digital intermediate technology is affecting the workflow.

Bell co-founded Canary Films, a New York-based production company for

independent feature films in 2001. His credits include PERSONAL VELOCITY,

KING OF THE CORNER, KEANE and THE BALLAD OF JACK AND ROSE. He currently has two films in postproduction, TWELVE AND HOLDING and BEFORE IT HAD A NAME.

Schreiber's eclectic range of credits include YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS,

BOOK OF SHADOWS: BLAIR WITCH 2, CHAIN OF DESIRE, THE CELLULOID CLOSET, SHADOW MAGIC, NOVEMBER, LOVERBOY, which premiered at Sundance, and the upcoming independent feature AMERICAN GUN.

Libatique launched his narrative career with PI and REQUIEM FOR A DREAM

after compiling more than 100 music video and commercial credits. Libatique

won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Cinematography for REQUIEM, with

another nomination for PI. His feature credits include TIGERLAND, ABANDON,

PHONE BOOTH, GOTHIKA, NEVER DIE ALONE and SHE HATE ME. His upcoming film is EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED.
