Making a backup copy of 24p recording

I have just shot a feature using the XL2. We shot at 24p. I want to make a backup of the master tapes via firewire. I have a Sony DSR-11 deck, but I can't seem to record 24p via firewire without glitches. The XL2 manual says to try using the RCA connections, but I would like to have a higher quality backup. Does anyone know how to do this, or what type of deck I can get to do this? Is there a way to do this without buying a second XL2 camera?

Thanks.

Sacha

I could be wrong on this, but I am guessing that the camera is giving out its version of 24P, which is actually NTSC (24P with 3:2 pulldown inserted). Is it possible that when you try to play this back from your firewire device that it is playing back a true 24P (it has removed the 3:2 pulldown), which of course the VTR cannot record because it is expecting NTSC? If this is the case, the answer is to re-insert the 3:2 pulldown to send back an NTSC signal.

That could be completely wrong though
