David Frank
Hi, I am shooting a project for a cinematography class tomorrow on 16mm b+w film. I am using the stocks 7222 and 7231(for outdoor scenes). We are using the Bolex H16 cameras with the prism reflex systems. We have been taught to compensate for the light loss on the camera by 2/3's of a stop. So when shooting 7222(200asa) we meter for 133asa. But I was looking at the ASA rating of the 7231 which is 80-daylight and 64-tungsten. I am racking my brain trying to figure out what I should meter for with this stock when shooting outside. I thought I remember metering it as 50ASA on previous projects, but I have forgotten(so has my group members). Any thoughts? -David Frank

Guest robtags
On Kern Switar lenses marked 'RX' you don't need to compensate, they are designed to let in 1/2-1/3 more light than normal at each f/stop, so you read the meter at 1/65 like normal. If you aren't using an 'RX' type lens just read the meter at the camera's effective shutter speed which is 1/80. check out this manual, page 3: http://www.sheepwash.com/misc/Bolex_Manual.pdf
