Landon D. Parks
Can someone tell me where I can get a good FREE screenwriting program? Something that allows for easy formating, ect. I really like the workflow of Final Draft, but I only have the trail version and Im not about to pay over $100 for it. Most of the FREE programs out there I ran across are "Add-ins" for word processors like word. I like the stand-alone programs a lot better. Thanks for any help! Premium Member Josh Hill Posted May 22, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted May 22, 2005 Use your trial version of Final Draft to save to a .rtf file. It creates its template within Word (or whatever you're using). Just delete whatever you've written and save the file as the template. Then you can write in your native word processor. Or buy a typewriter. That's the most trusted piece of screenwriting hardware in history.

Landon D. Parks
I downloaded Celtx a lil while ago. Im having trouble understanding how it works. Final Draft has a much easier workflow in my opinion. I'll look @ celtx again though....
Nate Yolles
Are you a writter who is currently working on a short film intitled Hook Man? Or are you a writer who is currently working on a short film entitled "Hook Man"? A writer who knows the difference between "its" and "it's." If you're the latter of the two, $100 is not a lot of money to invest in your career.
Landon D. Parks
Entitled... lol. And yes, I know the difference between it's and its. And no, I don't even have $100 to invest in software. Screenplay is currently done, came in @ 10 pages long. I just timed it and it comes out a little longer then I intended, but it should work. It came out to 11 minutes. If theres enough interest, I'll get the screenplay online so you guys can read it. Although I must warn it, it contains a lot of camera directions, ect.
