New XM2 vs used PD170

Hi.

I just sold my Canon XL1 camera because it was a NTSC cam, and since I live in Europe it's a problem with multiple camera productions.

I'm going to buy a "new" camera soon.

I have ended up with 2 possibilities:

1. A new Canon XM2 from the store, included wide angle, 3 BP-945 batteries and a MA-300 adapter for XLR. The price is about 4100$

2. A used Sony PD170, but it has only been used for 30 hours. 9 months old

Included wide angle lens, 4 NP-F960 batteries and an AC-V700A adapter.

Price is about 4300$

I will use the camera mostly for documentary use, and perhaps some short films.

I have spoken with some camera stores and they tell me that the picture quality is almost the same, if not even better on the Canon XM2 because of the canon lenses. But the sound is better on the PD170 because they have XLR. But If I buy the XLR adapter for the XM2, it's almost the same camera.

I'm really starting to get stuck between these two, don't know what to do...

Another thing is that me and my friend are going to do a documentary together, and would preferably have the same camera. But will it make a big difference if one of us have a XM2 and one of us has a PD170?

Can anyone here please give me som inputs on what they would do?

Thanks, Dag.
