Edgar Nyari
Hi, Do various types of Arri bridge plates (BP-3, BP-8, BP-9...) all have interchangeable dovetail plates or does each one have their own width and shape of rails? thanks Edgar
Premium Member Satsuki Murashige Posted April 17, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted April 17, 2016 The bottom of the baseplates all interface with the same Arri dovetail plate. The difference is in the spacing of the screws for different camera systems, the length of the plate itself, and 15mm or 19mm studio rods setups. BP-8/9 are the most modern general use plates. There are also some funky ones that only work the Alexa, and some made for 16mm cameras. BP-3 is the old style long plate for 35mm cameras with a locating pin and a single 3/8-16 screw that can be hand-tightened.
Edgar Nyari
Hi Satsuki, thanks for the answer. I have a BP-3 that's missing the dovetail so just wanted to know can I get the first one I get my hands on without consideration about what was it used with (BP.-8 or 3 or 9 etc.) Edgar
Premium Member Satsuki Murashige Posted April 18, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted April 18, 2016 Sure, the BP-3 should work with any Arri standard dovetail plate.
