Oliviero Bella Vita Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 (edited) Hey guys I'd like to know if it is possible to output 10bit 4:2:2 from the A7R II to an external recorder like the shogun? I can't seem to find a CLEAR answer to this online, some say it is 8bit yet the atomos is said to default to 10bit 4:2:2 automatically when the A7R II is plugged. Another question is, you all know the cam shoots 120fps on 720p, can that be bypassed to have 120fps in HD or 4K which is what the inferno can handle, or is this a purely internal camera limitation. One last question, do you guys think with the release of the GH5, and the likely distant release of the A7R/S III Sony can offer an internal 10bit 4:2:2 via a firmware update? Thank you! Premium Member Mark Kenfield Posted January 20, 2017 Premium Member Posted January 20, 2017 No, the Sony A7 series can't output a 10-bit signal. You'd need to go the GH5 (or something much more esoteric like the new Leica or Hasselblad) to get 10-bit output from a stills camera.

Oliviero Bella Vita Posted January 20, 2017 Author Posted January 20, 2017 Anyone knows the answer for my other 2 questions about high-speed and firmware?
