Filip Plesha
I never shot anything with a motion picture film camera,so I always wondered something.. When the camera starts, the motor needs some small time to reach its 24fps speed. Does this make the first frame or two overexposed?
Mitch Gross
In 35mm it takes a moment for the camera to get up to speed so there are a few overexposed frames that also exhibit brief glimpses of fast motion. The same happens as the camera shuts off. In modern 16mm cameras the film is small enough and the motor powerful enough that there is generally only one frame overexposed, known commonly as the Flash Frame. Nate Downes
With Super8 you get much the same result as with 16mm.
