Luca Travaglini
Hi everybody, I'm trying to figuring out when the Cooke S3 series came out. I know Cooke S4 are from the 90s but I can't find much informations on the previous series from the Cooke website. Which year Cooke S3 were released? Premium Member Dom Jaeger Posted March 15, 2021 Premium Member Share Posted March 15, 2021 The Cooke website has some dubious dating. As far as I can tell, Series III Speed Panchros (which are really just the aspheric upgrades of the 18mm and 25mm) were released in the early 60s. The first mention of Series III Speed Panchros in American Cinematographer magazines that I have found is in 1963. I believe Series II Speed Panchros date to the mid 50s. See this thread for lots of Cooke history info: https://cinematography.com/index.php?/topic/77500-the-lost-history-of-cooke-lenses/&do=findComment&comment=499527 Cooke S4s were released right at the end of the 90s, I think of them as a 2000s lens series really, along with Zeiss Ultra Primes.
