Hello! Wich part of the groundglas gets on the actual negative? Is the grey part only for surround view? 
 

asked the camera people at the rental house and they Wernt 100% sure

It depends on the ground glass, on some the grey boundary is the camera aperture, on others it’s the transmitted area. 

Check the Arri Groundglass book to see which ground glass you have:

It looks like your ground glass might be this old style one shown on page 87:

The grey boundary on this ground glass shows the 16:9 transmitted area, which is a bit smaller than the exposed negative area (full camera aperture).
