Hello i am a complete newbie at film making. Because i have made some pretty nice ones for my school organizations, i decide to go deeper into filmmaking.

The primary thing i want to learn right now is all the different shooting styles and shooting angles, Does anyone know a place where i can find out more about them? Is there a place on the web for n00b filmmakers like me to get started?

Any information would help, Thank you.

For a very basic overview of about 100 shots, check out:

Setting Up Your Shots by Jeremy Vineyard

ISBN 0-941188-73-6

It gives story board style examples of shots and movies where you can see the actual technique in use. It's extremely basic but easy to thumb through for a nice overview.

An older book but still a classic:

The Five C's of Cinematography by Joseph Mascelli

ISBN 1-879505-41-X

Covers Camera angles, Continuity, Cutting, Close-Ups, and Composition.

And HIGHLY RECOMMENDED:

Understanding Movies by Louis Giannetti

ISBN 0-13-040813-1

It's a Prentice Hall film school text book loaded with great info.

Good luck! B)
