PJBarry
Hey all, I'm shooting a film on weekends and sometimes get halfway through a 400 ft roll, as I did this past weekend, and won't shoot again until Saturday. Now, this is low budget so I can't really afford to junk the other 200 ft, so my question is, what will the effect be of leaving the film at room temperature for 5 days? I know it's not good, but rather, how bad is it? Thanks, Patrick
Premium Member John Pytlak RIP Posted April 26, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted April 26, 2004 "Latent Image Keeping" varies somewhat with the particular film stock, and the keeping conditions. In most cases, if you keep the film cool and dry, a few weeks keeping between shoots should produce minimal change in the image. If you leave your film and camera in a hot automobile on a sunny day, noticable changes could occur within the day.
PJBarry
Thanks John! Yeah, its 250D in there right now. I appreciate your response. All the best, Patrick
Premium Member Kevin Zanit Posted April 26, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted April 26, 2004 Just break off the 200' of exposed film, and short end the take up side. Your not really wasting much film (5 to 10'), and there is less to be concerned about as far as your latent image. Kevin Zanit
Mitch Gross
Or you could just stick the mag in the fridge. Be sure to wrap it in plastic for condensation and to protect from spills.
Premium Member John Pytlak RIP Posted April 29, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted April 29, 2004 For up to a week or two, cool room temperature is fine. Without proper equilibration and moisture control, putting film/magazine in and out of a refrigerator is more problematic.
