Marathon Man lighting

Recommended Posts

I'm a big fan of Conrad Hall, especially his soft light work on The Happy Ending and Fat City. I've read interviews where Hall talked about using reflective umbrellas all the way through both of these films, and I'm curious if he lit Marathon Man interiors in a similar way?? Does anyone here know? To me, it looks like he did MM in the same way he did Fat City, and still used the umbrellas, etc. MM is my favorite of his work. Overall there's a similar soft, but contrasty, look to the movie that Gordon Willis' work had in the same time period, just not from the top like Willis used.

Any help is appreciated.
