  6. hi all whenever we shoot chroma key scenes, the DP changes the shutter angle from 180 degrees to 90 degrees (normally we shoot at 25fps and 180 degrees) i know this makes the image sharper and easier for keying but is this a must? thanks so much

  8. Hi all "One note in this rave review is that the DVX does struggle a tad in low light areas. Lighting will be key if you purchase this camera." would u pls elaborate a little more on this, Danielle? I've also used the DVX100A a lot really amazing quality and achieve a film-like image Larry
  9. Hi all i'll be doing a camera test on this camera tmr i'm a newbie and know nothing about this camera except those from the official website Anyone familiar with this camera can provide me some valuable infomation maybe something ppl usually do it wrong Thank you so much Best Larry
  10. Actually I'm now working in a commercial production house as a PA. As I'm also responsible for taking care of the camera and lighting equipment, I can use them whenever I want. And I really did. I just shoot an indie with my colleagues, not very experiemental, but already a very good experience. We shoot it mainly using the DVX100A, and some pick up shots with Canon Scoopic 16. We have no budget and all are from our own savings. So save some money for filmmaking MAN! Remember to share what you shoot with us! Larry
  11. Hi all Does anybody have any idea about this Production House in Los Angeles? I know this production house is based in Los Angeles. And as it has branches in Hong Kong and Shanghai, I would like to know more about its background. So any info will help. Thank you so much. Best Larry
  12. Hi Matt Thanks for your reply. And may I ask one more thing whether the camera loads 16mm film with daylight spool or just core? Cos I did try to load a roll of 16mm film with daylight spool. Before, everything was smooth, easy to turn the sprocket. But when I closed the mag door, I could not even rotate the wheel sprocket. Best Larry
  13. Hi all I would like to know more about the camera. Can anyone tell me where I can search for more information about it. Thanks in advance. Best Larry
  14. Hi bearcub Finally there's someone reply. Thx so much. Actually, i've applied for AFI and CalArts. I still havent received letter from CalArts, and so i assume that it hasnt rejected my application yet. I just included my final project from school and some photos taken recently. Perhaps I do not have enough experience to back me up. i dont know. Good luck to you. So keep in contact. Best Larry
  15. Thank you all for the valuable opinion and share of experience. Seems that Minolta and Sekonic both have their die-hard fans. Maybe I should try it out myself? Hope I can learn more by using a light meter. Best Larry
  16. Hi all I also find it very useful when i shoot during an overcast day. I would like to say that the production photos are extremely good illustrations. I can get the idea at just one glance. Best Larry
  17. Hi Morten Really thanks for yr reply. But you dare buy light meter at eBay! How can you confirm the light meter is in good condition? Best Larry
  18. Just received the letter from AFI I am not admitted into the Cinematography Program for Fall 2004 But hope other applicants good luck. Best Larry
  19. Hi all I would like to ask whether there is any successful applicant here because according to the website, AFI should have announced the admission result of fall 2004. I am also an applicant of AFI cinematography from Hong Kong. Best Larry
  20. Hi all I'm thinking of getting a light meter and it seems that most people just use Minolta or Sekonic. I know they have their own pros and cons, so maybe people here can give me some suggestions whether Minolta or Sekonic is more suitable to a new comer. Thank you so much. Regards Larry
