  1. Hi everyone, Im in the process of cutting my showreel today and for the next week and this is my first cut. Its All S16 with one HD shoot. I was wondering if you could let me know of anything that would make the reel better, if you like it or dont, and pace music if the cuts work anyshots that should play longer anyshots that dont work, or you dont like and what you think does work Its on Youtube at the moment, but when i have a locked cut i'll put it on my website which will of course be a better codec and much better quality. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-B3Qem2i4U Thank you for you help Best Regards Justin Brown

  4. Hi all, We have to do a kodak commercial competion here at my University, we get given 400ft of S16mm and £100 budget. Just wondering what you thought. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7...07400&hl=en Make sure the play back size is original size. Best Regards Justin Brown 07811102427
  5. Hi Guys, We shot S16mm with SR2, kodak 50D and 7218. Yeah the Day for night stuff was a bit odd, as we scheduled it for both dusk and dawn on both days but the actor had to go early on the second day which meant it had to be shot in the sun, the stuff in the sea was at sunset. The aspect ratio is a little off, the editor put it up so i'll let him know. The director loves shooting with as little dialog as possible, we've just gotten back from shooting in Poland and the rushes look really nice. Thanks for your replies. Justin Brown
  6. Hello, We shot this in the summer, just wondering what you thought. Best Regards Justin Brown

  8. Its a full moon tonight, and it is so bright. just wondering if anyone has ever tried exposing on film for moonlight? or if they are going to tonight on a DSLR. And what everyone percieves moonlights colour to be and what gels/ filters they would use to create this effect. Or if anyone has any examples of images they've shot. Merry Christmas Justin Brown
  9. I shot this film last year on a SR1, with kodak stock, we filmed for a day and a half and had a budget of 500 quid. Let me know what you think. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...eoid=2056150719 Justin Brown
  10. On the 3rd of september im filming for 11 days in vietnam. Its a 15 min documentary on Photojournalism. Our budgets been cut quite lt and only now have the choice of filming on the JVC HD100U or the Sony Z1, i've used the JVC many times, but never the Z1. We dont have the budget for Pro 35. And we will have matte box filters etc. So i was wondering if anyone had used both and would be able to give me advise on which would give me the best image and best suited to documentary filming. Also any pro's vs con's of both cameras. Thankyou

  15. Just wondering how i would go about shooting a shot of the sun? Will be shooting on the Arri SR2, using 7201. Any specific lenses that would avoid flare? And if my operator would have to use some sort of goggle or would i frame using the video assist? Many thanks Justin Brown
  16. could anyone tell me what these lights are called, http://pradaparfums.com/, click on the camera which says"behind the scenes" and then click on amo documentary. sorry, Its a bit of a treck to find it. its is the light that is being held up above the camera about 45 seconds into the footage. thanks in advance Justin
  17. Hey, yeah the Up shot was filmed on location but we had no polyboards and the end result meant that the sky blead around the character and was completley overexposed, and because our tests didnt come back, i couldnt test filters for skys. so we composited the shot using a movable still in post. The wierd thing is that i didnt feel that the actor did the script any justice on set, but it really works in the final cut. We are also cutting a 2 min version, and also a 30 second test Kit Kat advert, both of which i'll put on later. Justin
  18. The scratches were on the tail ends of the negs. Some of the shots we wanted to use were ruined by the scratches, but the editor managed to do a good job of cutting around them. Justin
  19. Hi all, This is a short that has made it to the last 12 of the Depict 90 second short film festival. The film is called Dermo Suchaesta (poop Happens), the 4th film in the list with a soldier standing beneath a sky. http://depict.org/cgi-bin/WebObjects/Depic...ries?object=175 I shot 7222 on a old H16 Bolex from college. We had three lenses (150mm,25mm, and a 16mm). The film was not shot in order and shot over 2 days. The first being harsh sunlight and the second being overcast. I did my best to correct it in post but it was hard. Im not pleased with the dusk shot. Would love some feedback, on both the cinematography and the Film. And please vote kindly as there is a £2000 cash prize for the winner, and that money would buy a lot of stock i could test for up and coming projects. Justin Brown.
